"DINNER FOR FEW" directed by Nassos Vakalis is an allegorical depiction of our society. During dinner, "the system" feeds the few who consume all the resources while the rest survive on scraps. Inevitably, the struggle for what remains leads to catastrophic change. The offspring of this transition turns out not to be a sign of hope, but the spitting image of the parents.

The numerous festival participation and awards are listed on the web site of the film:

Sun and Time
(Ο Ήλιος και ο Χρόνος, a song cycle that Mikis Theodorakis wrote while imprisoned by the dictators in 1967.)
A film by Asteris Kutulas
Athanasios Dikos will play music of Theodorakis on the Piano before the screening
Notes on the Film:
When the Greek military seized power in 1967, Mikis Theodorakis called for resistance against the dictatorship. The junta prohibited the performance of his music and tried to arrest him.
Three months later, they found and placed him under secret service arrest. In his cell, suspended between life and death, he wrote 36 lyrical texts in an almost euphoric state of mind. He immediately set 17 of these lyrics to music, associating them with an interpretation in the style of rock music which he called the cycle "Sun & Time“.
Theodorakis was then exiled in Zatuna by the junta until 1970.
This is a documentary about poetry, music and the dictatorship in Greece between 1967 and 1974.

  • With Mikis Theodorakis, Maria Farantouri, Rainer Kirchmann and others

  • In Greek, German and English, with English subtitles

  • Original copyright: November Film Berlin, 1999

  • Produced for ARTE TV/ZDF

  • 52 min.

Suggested donation:
$75 per person (tax deductible)
The proceeds will be given to the Asteris Koutoulas organization to help with his current project: To convert his private, previously unpublished archives containing more than 600 hours of footage that span almost three decades from Mikis Theodorakis concerts and interviews into documentaries that can be presented to the public.
